The Frenchtown Playboys

Saturday, June 4 ~ 12pm to 2pm

Rooted in the jaunty rhythms and lyrics of “hokum blues” from the 1920s & 30s, a Frenchtown Playboys show has elements of comedy, nostalgia, and novelty, – blending low-down feelings and more in such a musically colorful and improvisatory way that no two performances are the same. The band is collectively laid-back and sometimes whimsical – able to show a deep dedication to the human elements of music without any risk of taking themselves too seriously. Their sets contain a mix of re-invented old tunes and original songs. The band was formed by brothers Vernon James (vocals/guitar) and Adam Schreiber (percussion) and has expanded to include Erik McIntyre (guitar) and other rotating guests at times including Jorian Olk-Szost (bass), Shannon Wade (bass), Chris Tabaczynski (woodwinds), and Grant Flick (violin). They often play gigs in Flint/Detroit and surrounding areas.

Chloe & the Steel Strings is an up-and-coming Americana band based in Toledo. The group’s recent album ‘Burn Bright’ has been described as “…the most stunning and beautiful Americana rooted recordings to come out of the area in years” (Alan Goldsmith, 106.1FM). Comprised of identical twin sisters Anna and Chloe Wagenhauser on lead vocals & harmonies, Connor Ward on Bass, and Pete Rodriquez on lead guitar, the group weaves a magical performance of original songs and your favorite 60’s/70’s covers! They love performing at local watering holes, and frequent Wild Side Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, Buffalo Rock Brewing Company in Waterville, & the Village Idiot in Maumee. The group is passionate about performing, recording, and songwriting, and would love to see you at their performance. (Original date cancelled due to weather on July 23.)

Glass City Steel is TSA’s steel drum band. Founded in 2007, this group of advanced percussion students bring the pans to life with traditional Calypso tunes and pop and rock favorites.

Bridge County Bluegrass Band

Saturday, August 27 ~ 12pm to 2pm

Bridge County Bluegrass Band is a group of five talented musicians from four counties (Fulton, Henry, Lucas, and Wood) in Northwest Ohio.  The group started in 2006 with four original members (Brad Long – mandolin, Jerry Endicott – string bass, Merv Spencer – guitar, Steve – banjo) but expanded to five members in 2012 when Jason Huntley (fiddle) was invited to join the group.

Collectively, the group brings over a half century of music experience to the stage.  Each of the members has played in various music groups and performed different styles of music.  However, their shared love of bluegrass has brought them together for Bridge County Bluegrass Band.  For those who love the driving beat of traditional bluegrass, with mournful songs and unforgettable instrumentals, get ready for a real treat.  If you like a little variety, listen for our signature newgrass songs, including Blue Suede Shoes, Johnny Be Good, and other modern favorites.

577 is open daily, 9am to 5pm. The Welcome Center & Curiosity Shop is open Wednesday ~ Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
