Make a Flower Arrangement: From Field to Vase
Thursday, September 18 ~ 6pm to 7:30pm
Create a beautiful summer bouquet while learning about the importance of sourcing your flowers locally. Participants will be guided through the basics of flower arranging to make and take home their own medium-sized arrangement using flowers grown at Becca’s cut flower farm, arranged in a glass jar. All supplies are included. This class is led by Becca, a local flower farmer and floral designer.
We’ll also explore the benefits of using flowers that are grown in our area. More and more, we’re considering the sources of our food—and we’ll chat about why the flowers we pick up at the supermarket should be part of that same conversation.
Class Note: Some participants enjoy wearing gardening gloves during this class.

In the first session, Julie will guide you in creating your ceramic base using slab-building techniques. You’ll add holes around the edges for weaving, explore interesting textures to decorate your piece, and choose a gorgeous glaze color. Your base will stay with Julie for firing and glazing.
A couple of weeks later, you’ll return for your weaving session with Samantha. She’ll show you how to wax thread and a needle to coil grasses on the edge of your ceramic base, then weave upward to complete your vessel.
