Winter Seed Starting
Tuesday, February 16 ~ 6pm to 8pm

Winter sowing is a unique planting method that involves starting seeds outdoors during the winter months, rather than in a greenhouse or indoors. Using simple, recycled containers, seeds naturally germinate when conditions are right, and are already acclimated to your local climate.

This method is known for a high germination success rate, often over 90%. Each participant will prepare and take home three containers, along with seeds, potting soil, a trowel, detailed instructions, and labels for easy identification.

Class note: Gardening gloves are optional, but feel free to bring your own if desired.

Community Instructor: Sherry Kertesz

Participants will choose from a selection of pre-dried English ivy hoops, sustainably harvested from the 577 grounds, before learning how to “warp” their circular hoop in preparation to weave.
