Expanding Fiber Arts at 577

Thanks to the support of the Ohio Arts Council, our fiber arts programming continues to grow, bringing new skills, traditions, and joyful creativity to our community.

Over the past several months, participants have explored a wide range of fiber arts techniques in classes such as Loom Knitting, Crocheted Flowers, Basket Making, and Sun Printing with Cyanotype. We’ve embraced upcycling through Fabric Scrap Wreaths, Mini Fabric Bowls, and Spring Bouquets, and experimented with color and pattern in Block Printing and Botanical Eco Printing.

These workshops are designed to be welcoming to all, offering small-group, hands-on learning for beginners and returning makers alike.

We’re excited to announce the next offering in the series: Intro to Handweaving, launching mid to late summer. This beginner-friendly class will introduce participants to the weaving process using our newly acquired rigid heddle looms (pictured below) and will be taught by Community Instructor Ellen Seeburger. Look for more details coming in June 2025.

This expansion of fiber arts offerings at 577 is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
