Say Hello to Isabelle

577 Staff Spotlight: Isabelle Tucker

Say Hello to Isabelle! Isabelle Tucker is one of 577’s Program Coordinators. She’s a member of the Education department where she teaches fine art classes and has a key role in coordinating operations in the Welcome Center and Curiosity Shop.

Isabelle is a trained artist and frequent class instructor. She teaches a variety of fine art classes including drawing with pastels and cyanotype art. In the Curiosity Shop, she manages inventory, oversees guest artist installations, coordinates volunteers, and assists with community instructor recruitment and scheduling. She also designed the “We Root For Each Other” artwork that appears on some of our merchandise in the shop.

Learn a little more about Isabelle in her own words:

Hi there! I am so excited to be at 577 with you all. I began my journey here far before I was ever a staff member. Back in high school, I had my first experience with 577, firing pottery with Julie on a class field trip. Since that day, I have always found my way back—whether it was just visiting the grounds, more field trips, or serving as an intern for three semesters. Upon graduating with my BFA, I was lucky enough to be offered a full-time position in 2022. I gladly accepted and have never looked back. This truly is a magical place for cultivating all kinds of creativity.

Art and community have always been the driving factors in just about everything I do. Whenever I find myself interacting with other artists and community members, my conversations always seem to naturally drift toward the projects that are driving them, and the things they love to create. That is why I have found teaching so rewarding. Seeing people come together to create and learn, no matter the subject has been the most gratifying experience for me here at 577. Whether it is drawing with pastels, cyanotype printing, or discussing the importance of freedom and fun in art, I am always so excited to see others enthusiastic about their skills—especially the skills they didn’t know they had.

Working with fellow artists in the Curiosity Shop is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite things. Getting to offer opportunities for these creatives to showcase their work to the community and see others captivated by their vision is nothing short of astounding. Each person is so unique, and that abundantly manifests in their artwork. If you find yourself excited about something you are doing, I would love to talk about it with you!

When I’m not at 577, you can find me going on adventures with my dog, spending time with my family and friends, trying new places to eat, tending to my houseplants, or trying out new hobbies that I’ve picked up from those around me!

If you are interested in learning a new art form, showcasing one you already know, or needing help finding materials for your next project, send me an email or stop in the Welcome Center. We are open and welcome to all!

Nature blesses us with incredible colors as the growing season progresses, from the cheerful stained glass faces of spring pansies to the jewel tones of late summer cosmos and the fiery hues of the autumn chrysanthemums. We are surrounded by color and, as creatures who appreciate beauty, we try to capture the intricacy and vibrance in our work. Learn how we are capturing their pigments on paper and fabric through the process of eco-printing.

Community Instructor Spotlight: Say Hello to The Pats!

Both local residents, Pat Piper and Pat Szymanowski have a passion for creativity and paper crafts. Pat and Pat delight in 577’s welcoming atmosphere, the fun and knowledgeable instructors, and the “wild but well-kept” nature of our gardens and grounds. They would like everyone to know that “It’s comfortable here. Come try it, you don’t have to be perfect. We all start somewhere.”

Mark your calendars! Join us for Music in the Gardens on Saturday, September 14, from 11am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event welcomes everyone and will take place rain or shine.
