Music in the Gardens 2024

Music returns to 577 this May, bigger and better than ever! Join us on the second Saturday of each month from May through October and enjoy listening to the sweet sounds drifting as you stroll through the gardens. Two musical acts will perform each day, plus select areas of Virginia’s House will be open to visitors from 11am to 3pm for tours and activities, and food trucks are scheduled for select dates.

Join us this Saturday, May 11, to kick off this wonderful series.

The Outdoor Stage will feature Jeff Tucker (singer-songwriter) from 11am to 1pm and Southview & Northview Tri-M (band, orchestra, choir ensemble) from 2pm to 3pm. Come hungry as Smashdawgz Food Truck will be serving their dawgs and more from 12pm to 3pm. Drop into Virginia’s House for a fun nature activity from 11am to 2pm. Event is rain or shine!

Music in the Gardens is a free event and takes place rain or shine. Concerts take place on the 577 Outdoor Stage near the Dome. In case of inclement weather, the music will move from the Outdoor Stage into Virginia’s House. Seating is limited, bringing a blanket or chair is recommended. Pack or grab a snack or lunch for the perfect afternoon in the gardens.

Botanical Eco-Print: Flower Pounding

Nature blesses us with incredible colors as the growing season progresses, from the cheerful stained glass faces of spring pansies to the jewel tones of late summer cosmos and the fiery hues of the autumn chrysanthemums. We are surrounded by color and, as creatures who appreciate beauty, we try to capture the intricacy and vibrance in our work. Learn how we are capturing their pigments on paper and fabric through the process of eco-printing.

Community Instructor Spotlight: Say Hello to The Pats!

Both local residents, Pat Piper and Pat Szymanowski have a passion for creativity and paper crafts. Pat and Pat delight in 577’s welcoming atmosphere, the fun and knowledgeable instructors, and the “wild but well-kept” nature of our gardens and grounds. They would like everyone to know that “It’s comfortable here. Come try it, you don’t have to be perfect. We all start somewhere.”

Mark your calendars! Join us for Music in the Gardens on Saturday, September 14, from 11am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event welcomes everyone and will take place rain or shine.
