The Gift of Green: Holiday Houseplants

Give the gift of green this holiday season!

Plant Sale begins Friday, November 17 at 10am in the Welcome Center & Curiosity Shop.

In a joyful, collaborative effort, 577 staff members and volunteers used their creativity and talents to paint over 100 terra cotta pots. Our wonderful horticulture team then filled them with a delightful assortment of unique houseplants and succulents, turning each pot into a work of living art.

These one-of-a-kind plants make the perfect gift to brighten up any home during the holiday season, bringing the beauty of nature indoors and adding a touch of green to every season. Come snag these quirky, potted wonders and bring some green into your life! Plants will be available during open Curiosity Shop hours and while supplies last.

The Welcome Center & Curiosity Shop is open Monday ~ Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Hours will vary around the holidays.

Upcoming Shop Closures:
~ Wednesday, November 22 through Friday, November 24
~ Wednesday, December 13
~ Sunday, December 24, 2023 through Monday, January 8, 2024

Proceeds from plant sales support the 577 Growing Fund which supports the Community Garden programs and the beautiful landscape gardens enjoyed by visitors year-round.

Nature blesses us with incredible colors as the growing season progresses, from the cheerful stained glass faces of spring pansies to the jewel tones of late summer cosmos and the fiery hues of the autumn chrysanthemums. We are surrounded by color and, as creatures who appreciate beauty, we try to capture the intricacy and vibrance in our work. Learn how we are capturing their pigments on paper and fabric through the process of eco-printing.

Community Instructor Spotlight: Say Hello to The Pats!

Both local residents, Pat Piper and Pat Szymanowski have a passion for creativity and paper crafts. Pat and Pat delight in 577’s welcoming atmosphere, the fun and knowledgeable instructors, and the “wild but well-kept” nature of our gardens and grounds. They would like everyone to know that “It’s comfortable here. Come try it, you don’t have to be perfect. We all start somewhere.”

Mark your calendars! Join us for Music in the Gardens on Saturday, September 14, from 11am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event welcomes everyone and will take place rain or shine.
