577 Community eCookbook

Fresh from the Garden ~ 577’s very first community eCookbook is here!

Our August StoryWalk® book, Growing Vegetable Soup, written and illustrated by Lois Ehlert was the catalyst for this project. It sparked a memory in a 577 staff member as she walked along the trail. Like many things that happen organically at 577 (pun intended), she thought, “wouldn’t it be great if we could collect recipes from staff, community gardeners, visitors, friends, etc., and put together a 577 eCookbook that would be available as free download?”

Well, here it is! You sent us your favorite recipes, and some memories too. We hope you try something new and get to enjoy these recipes with your families and friends. Maybe these recipes will be the catalyst for a new memory or the backdrop to a wonderful conversation. Maybe one of these recipes will be the warmth needed on a cold winter day or a comforting meal.

Thank you for sharing.

Click the front cover below to view all 14 recipes submitted by 577 staff, volunteers, community gardeners, friends, and neighbors plus a little history of the community gardens at 577.

More Art in More Places, More Joy to More People

Inspired by conversations and creativity shared at the Ohio Arts Council’s Arts Impact Ohio conference, Executive Director Heather Gallant reflects on artist David Zinn’s playful work and the “fear of the blank canvas” many people experience when trying something new creatively. Through stories about art, process, and joy, Heather reminds us that creativity is less about perfection and more about curiosity, connection, and making space for wonder in everyday life.
