Celebrate Sustainability with 577!

Get ready to celebrate Go Green Day at 577! Join us on Saturday, April 25, from 11am to 3pm for a day filled with hands-on experiences, creative projects, and opportunities to learn from local experts. There’s something for everyone—kids, adults, nature lovers, and creative spirits alike.

Here’s what’s happening throughout the day:

Hands-On Activities with the 577 Team

Spring Block Printing
Visit the Green Door Studio to try your hand at block printing on recycled book pages using a nature-inspired design created by 577 Organic Landscape Horticulturist Bennett. Learn about upcoming classes and how you can create your own prints.

Nature-Inspired Watercolors
Create a small watercolor piece inspired by butterflies, flowers, and leaves using recycled book pages or donated watercolor paper. Staff artist Connie will be there to offer guidance. All materials provided.

Fiber Art Fun
Step inside the historic Cottage and explore hands-on fiber arts with 577 staff. Try simple stitching, create a felt monster or bookmark, or test out a sewing machine with guided support. All skill levels welcome.

Wildflower Seed Balls
Join Alison and Etta in the Pottery Studio to make your own wildflower seed ball using seeds, dirt, and recycled clay. One per person while supplies last.

Tree Trek Scavenger Hunt
Pick up a guide and set out on a self-guided adventure to discover 15 tree species across the grounds. Installed April 25 through Memorial Day.

Community Partner Activities

Decorate & Plant a Terra Cotta Pot
At the Outdoor Stage, join Becca Mathews of River Bend Homestead to decorate a terra cotta pot and plant celosia, marigold, or dill seeds. Take home your own little bit of spring.

Conservation: Everyone Can Do It
Visit the Dining Room in Virginia’s House to connect with the Country Garden Club and learn simple, practical ways to support conservation and reduce food waste.

Rain Barrels, Scraps to Soil, & More
Meet Lauren Rush from the City of Perrysburg to learn about rain gardens, composting, stormwater solutions, and ways to protect our waterways.

Waste Reduction & Recycling + Raffle
Stop by to chat with the Wood County Solid Waste Management District about recycling and waste reduction, and enter a raffle for an eco-friendly prize.

Limited-Time Activities

“Tour de Compost” Spring Sale
Visit GoZERO in the Courtyard from 12pm to 3pm to learn about composting services, purchase compost, or place a preorder.

Kids Explore Nature: Storytime & Craft
Join Nancy and John Salerno in the Log House for storytime and a simple nature-themed craft. Sessions take place from 11:30am to 12:30pm and 1pm to 2pm.

Meet the Beekeeper
Visit the Bee Room from 11am to 12pm to chat with volunteer beekeeper Sara, ask questions, and take a closer look inside the hive.

Enjoy a Sweet Treat

Snowy Station Shaved Ice
Stop by the Circle Drive near Virginia’s House beginning at 11am for a refreshing shaved ice. Customize it your way and enjoy it as you wander the grounds. Available while supplies last.

Make a day of it—grab lunch or a snack at one of Perrysburg’s local restaurants, or stop into the Welcome Center & Curiosity Shop for light snacks and refreshments.

Explore & Discover

Explore the Welcome Center & Curiosity Shop
Open 9am to 5pm, browse rescued books, art supplies, and handmade items. Discover local artists, preview upcoming classes, and find inspiration for your next creative project.

Wander the Gardens & Grounds
Enjoy the beauty of the gardens, visit the Geodesic Biodome, Bee Room, and historic Log House, and follow the Riverwalk Trail to the Maumee River.

StoryWalk®: Bud Finds Her Gift
Stroll the StoryWalk® and enjoy this gentle story of gratitude and connection to the natural world. This is the final weekend before a new story arrives in May.

Go Green Day is a free, open to all, and will take place rain or shine. Overflow parking is available across the street at the medical center (28442 E. River Rd.)
